The Tongji University “DIAN Racing” electric formula team, sponsored by ROHM (headquartered in Kyoto, Japan), a world-renowned semiconductor manufacturer, achieved the overall championship for the first time at the “2020 China Student Formula Electric Competition” held in Xiangyang, Hubei from November 9 to 14!

The “2020 China Student Formula Electric Competition” was organized by the China Society of Automotive Engineers. During the six-day event, DIAN Racing competed alongside over a hundred teams from universities across China. The team members worked together, united in purpose, and courageously won the championship.
In addition, the team achieved multiple first-place finishes, including the Vehicle Design Award, Best Battery Box Design Award, and the Electrical System Design Online Competition Award. The design report ranked first for the fourth consecutive year, the straight-line acceleration successfully defended its championship, and the team achieved its best-ever results, including second place in the skidpad event.

As the influence of new energy vehicles continues to grow, more and more universities are establishing their own electric vehicle teams to compete in campus EV competitions. Tongji University’s “DIAN Racing” electric formula team stands out among them.
Founded in March 2013, the “DIAN Racing” electric formula team is based at the School of Automotive Studies and the New Energy Vehicle Engineering Center of Tongji University. Since its establishment, the team has achieved remarkable results in various global competitions, including a second-place overall finish in the electric vehicle category at the 16th Formula SAE Japan in 2018.
To support the team’s development and cultivate future leaders in the automotive industry, ROHM has been providing various advanced components to the “DIAN Racing” electric formula team since November 2017, helping to further enhance the overall performance of the racing vehicle. In the 2020 season, the high-quality components provided by ROHM effectively improved the stability of the vehicle’s electronic control system and also helped the team achieve some high-voltage detection functions.
Going forward, ROHM will continue to support the team, actively promoting the application of advanced power semiconductors to help the team achieve more impressive results in the 2021 season. At the same time, ROHM will continue to contribute to social development in fields including electric vehicles and further promote technological innovation in power semiconductors!
