Hello everyone, I’m Tang Jianan, currently the Suspension Team Leader of DIAN Racing and primarily responsible for the design of the suspension subsystem. Time flies—in the blink of an eye, I’ve been with DIAN Racing for two years. Looking back at why I joined the team, it was probably because I was a bit aimless in my freshman year (laughs), not putting much thought into either my studies or extracurricular activities. After moving to the Jiading campus in my sophomore year, I wanted to change my attitude toward life, perhaps. At the same time, the outstanding (and persuasive) presentation by the team seniors at the recruitment event really struck a chord with me, so I was “sold” on joining the Electric Racing Team.
Over these two years, I went from a clueless newbie to gradually learning and improving under the patient guidance of the seniors, and now I am capable of taking charge of the design and manufacturing of the DRe25’s suspension. I’m very grateful to the team for providing me with such an excellent platform to enhance my engineering skills. Without the experience at DIAN Racing, I probably wouldn’t even be able to use a hex key properly, let alone calmly apply my knowledge to solve engineering problems when they arise.
Beyond improving my abilities, I also learned how to coordinate work with everyone in the team. The work in the team is tightly interlinked; any negligence or going through the motions on my part could cause trouble for other subsystems or delay the entire team’s progress. Under the influence of pressure and responsibility, I feel that I have become much more diligent than before.
I’d like to look ahead to the two key competitions this season: Student Formula Japan and Formula Student Electric China. DRe25 is a car that combines new technologies and solutions that our Electric Team has never attempted before—a monocoque, four motors, and the Z-shaped anti-roll bar for the front suspension that I designed, among others. Honestly, I’m not entirely sure how much potential this new car will ultimately unleash, but we will definitely strive to tune it to its optimal state before the competitions, hoping to achieve excellent results. After all, DRe25 is like our child. Let’s go, DIAN Racing!
