Over the past year of development, the DRe24 has achieved multiple technical improvements, perfectly embodying its design philosophy of “lighter, faster, more stable.” This year’s car is equipped with a team-developed VCU (Vehicle Control Unit) and BMS (Battery Management System), while numerous electronic control units, a precision dashboard, and essential safety components are integrated into the chassis.

Main Control Unit
The DRe24’s main control unit carrier board separates the power distribution unit, streamlines the main control unit functions, and adds wireless data acquisition capabilities along with a peripheral bridge. It uses an Ebyte 4G communication module, communicating with the MCU via UART interface. The carrier board incorporates an STM32F107RTC7 supporting Ethernet, USB, and I2C as a peripheral bridge, with UART serial communication between the two MCUs.
Battery Management System
The DRe24’s battery management system employs a dual-loop daisy-chain topology in series layout, with isoSPI communication between the master board and slave boards. Compared to previous sampling methods, this offers better timeliness, higher data transmission rates, and greater reliability. The master board is assembled from several small boards, occupying less space, and its modularity increases the possibility of replacement and upgrades. It integrates features such as battery box output control, cell status monitoring, SOC estimation, and Kalman filtering, fully meeting the demands of Formula Student competition.
