On September 22, Tongji University’s Formula Student Electric team successfully held the new car launch for “Riding Lightning and Chasing Light” at Tongji University’s Jiading Campus!

The new car unveiled at this launch, DRe23, was independently designed and manufactured by Tongji University students, achieving significant breakthroughs and improvements in aerodynamics, CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering), and other areas.

Car Highlights

Electrical System

Features bonded battery modules and a deeply modified motor controller, with an optimized in-house developed vehicle control unit and battery management system.

Corner Assembly

Utilizes a hub planetary gear reducer, 3D-printed metal uprights, water jackets, carbon fiber wheel rims and gearbox casing, achieving extreme lightweight construction and high space efficiency.

Aerodynamics Package

Deploys an aerodynamics package capable of generating 1400 N of downforce at 72 kph, equivalent to 54% of the car’s weight, delivering strong grip and stability.

Chassis & Driver Safety

Features a carbon fiber composite monocoque, optimizing the rear compartment shape and transition geometry to enhance aerodynamic performance while ensuring spatial packaging.

It is worth mentioning that at the 2023 Student Formula Japan held in August this year, DRe23 stood out among dozens of teams with its strong performance, achieving remarkable results in the Design Event.

Magna’s partnership with DIAN Racing began in 2017. Over the past 7 years, Magna has witnessed the continuous growth of Tongji University’s team as one of China’s top Formula Student Electric teams.

DIAN Racing will compete in the 2023 Formula Student Electric China (FSEC) to be held in Hefei in November 2023.
