DIAN Racing

As DIAN Racing’s annual celebration approaches, our Stars of the Year have also been selected. Driven by the team’s dream of efficiency and energy saving, and by their inner passion for racing, they dedicated immense time and effort during the team’s most difficult founding phase.

From dreaming, to chasing the dream, to building the dream, the Stars of the Year have made outstanding contributions to the team over the past year. They will share their stories of striving within the team, bringing you into close contact with the team!

What legendary deeds do they have? Any regrets or reluctance about the year that is about to pass? What expectations and hopes do they have for the team in the coming new year? Please read the fourth feature on our Stars of the Year — Fei Juncong.

(Hereafter, DR refers to the team, FJC refers to Fei Juncong)

DR: What moment left the deepest impression on you this year?

FJC: On July 9th, seeing the complete new car on the ground for the first time was absolutely stunning.

DR: Compared to last year, what progress do you think the team has made this year?

FJC: This year, the team has made progress in almost every aspect. The team’s cohesion slowly improved through competitions and activities. Team members often hang out and play together, organizing activities amongst themselves. It’s clear everyone likes this team more and more. Management processes have become increasingly efficient and standardized, business activities have been brilliant as always, and the technology side is even more promising. Over the year, the team has consistently been developing in the direction we’ve strived for.

DR: Compared to the past, how have you personally progressed this year?

FJC: I’ve fallen more and more in love with the team, beyond self-control… Personally, my management, coordination, and thinking abilities have also significantly improved. Oh, and my ability to pull all-nighters.

DR: What is your favorite part of DRe14?

FJC: The powertrain. The motor, controller, and reducer are all fantastic.

DR: Do you have any regrets this year within the team?

FJC: The dream hasn’t been realized yet, but some friends can no longer strive together with us.

DR: What has been the most interesting and happiest thing for you in the team this year?

FJC: Everyone likes to call the group leaders “Shifu” (Master): He Shifu, Jia Shifu, and so on. But they gave me a weird nickname -_-! Fortunately, there was Xiao Dabao later on, whose nickname remains unsurpassed to this day. Jia Shifu’s performance during the recruitment info session was very interesting. Of course, there have been quite a lot of fun and happy things happening in the team.

DR: What are your expectations for our upcoming DIAN Racing Annual Celebration?

FJC: DIAN Racing’s events have always been exquisite and full of surprises. For the Annual Celebration, this is the first time the new members will hold an event together with the team. I hope that through this team activity, the newly joined members can understand the team atmosphere and integrate into it. After a whole season of collaboration, I personally hope to have sincere dialogues with our sponsors at the sponsor annual meeting, to hear their evaluations and suggestions regarding the team’s season work, and I also very much want to understand their expectations for the team. I also look forward to DIAN Racing using the Annual Celebration to show our members, teachers, sponsors, and all friends who follow DIAN Racing the team’s state of pursuing excellence and proactive positivity.

DR: What do you hope the team will become next year and even in the distant future?

FJC: As a member from the technical department, I definitely have to talk about the team’s technology. In the future, I hope team members will maintain their thirst for cutting-edge technology and be courageous in accepting technical challenges. A team that only pursues finishing the race will never win the championship. Another thing is to make reliable designs; every FSAEr who has participated in a competition knows the importance of component reliability for the racecar. In the past two years, our grasp of some design concepts hasn’t been deep enough. Going forward, we must continuously improve and gradually maximize every design detail.

An excellent championship team also cannot be separated from strong support in management and business. The DIAN Racing Business Department has always had a good reputation externally; in the future, I also hope the team’s business aspect can become even more open. The members of the Management Department have always been silently and diligently operating the team. For a team founded just two years ago to reach its current state is truly not easy; please continue to lead us forward.

Over the past year, the team has experienced much, both sorrow and laughter. Along this road, we need to thank the Stars of the Year for their hard work, but more importantly, we need to thank all our team members for their tireless efforts that have brought the team to its current state. We must also thank our sponsors for their strong support of our work, hoping our cooperative relationship can be maintained for the long term. May our team have an even brighter tomorrow.
